Runner’s Wardrobe

Happy Weekend! Well, almost. I hope everyone is having a productive Friday afternoon! I have been semi-productive, which is better than not at all I guess!

Lately, it has become very apparent that my wardrobe is not exactly fashionable. Yes I bought a pair of cute brown boots I have worn over skinny jeans all of 3 times, but other than that, I pretty much live in one of two things: A pair of jeans and a race shirt, or sweatpants and a t-shirt. I never really thought about it as being strange, as my husband wears the same things, until this morning when I got dressed to go do some Christmas shopping. Without much thought I put on “the usual” and then realized that my “usual” is not very fashionable or dressy, or even dressy-casual.

Silly me, I was trying to get the side of the pants where it says “LSU Tigers” but then I realized my shirt was covering up the L….good job Heather!

So…anyway, I must admit, this is the most comfortable outfit ever! Also, what did I buy while I was out? A New Orleans Saints hoodie. Oh yes. More high fashion for me!

When I got home I decided to look through my closet and see what I had. (Remember, I am at my parents so I only have a handful of clothes here) The majority of my clothes are t-shirts with a few pairs of athletic shorts and sweatpants. I have a whole drawer of running skirts and tops, and I just bought a cold weather running zip up top. Wow. I have a problem! I haven’t worn khaki or black pants since the Spring, and now that I am working from home the only time I ever put on “real” clothes is to go to dinner or to the store, and even then it’s usually just a t-shirt. I am not saying this is a “problem” but I am slightly concerned at how boring my wardrobe is. I guess it is the runners plight! I have contemplated wearing my running skirts in public just to run around town, but I think my husband would kill me.

So, I have decided to put a plan into action. I am going to try really hard to be more aware of what I put on. When I wear jeans to dinner I am going to try to NOT wear a race shirt or anything dri fit.

I will NOT wear a running hat everywhere I go just so I don’t have to put makeup on.

I will NOT wear tennis shoes every day.

I will NOT wear my hair in a ponytail 7 days a week.

I will say it again, there is nothing wrong with wearing sweats or running clothes but if it’s everyday in my opinion there should be a little variety. I will admit to, as time consuming as it is to actually fix my hair, put on makeup and wear cute clothes…I feel much more self confident when I actually take the time to do it.

SO hopefully, when I post pictures of myself on here from now on, they won’t all be of me in running clothes, a hat, and a ponytail! Hold me to it! Yes, I am a proud runner, but I am also a 25 year old girl and it’s fun to be girly and sassy sometimes!

QOTD: What is your wardrobe like? Do you ever fall into the runner’s wardrobe trap?

My wardrobe needs an overhaul. I’m in the “I started running and losing weight, but not enough weight to fit in my skinny clothes” conundrum. Do I buy clothes knowing I’ll be to small for them in a couple months or do I continue wearing slightly-too-big clothes? I would wear my running skirts everywhere if it was acceptable. 😉

Wow, I didn’t think anyone was as unfashionable as me, but…you go out in your sweats…lol. Now to be fair, you are 10 years younger than I am and 10 years ago I would have still been rocking the college girl look too. Lol!!

Anyway, since I’m not working, I really do not make an effort anymore. Makeup? Hardly ever. I don’t fix my hair normally anyway, so thats no different. At least I just got it cut so i don’t completely look like a slob. Jeans, shorts, and tees are my wardrobe, but i wear flip flops practically year round. Lol! Even tennies are too much of an effort. Hahaha. Oh, and I totally would wear my running skirts as regular clothes, too, but am pretty sure that would get me divorced. Lol. Although i’ve done it a couple times anyway… I too prefer to wear race shirts or dry fit. Lol.

hehe, when i was in college, on a good day, i would wear jeans, sneakers and a T-shirt EVERYDAY. If it was a bad day (well, good for me, bad for everyone else,) i would wear spandex!!!!!! Yes, spandex!! :-) But in my defense, there were only 13 people in my major, all girls and we were all good friends! :-) i still wear sneakers Even to work(eventho i’m not supposed to but after 2 years no one has said anything yet). I like to be comfortable and come on, you never know when you may need to run! 😉

That is funny! I feel like during the week I wear a suit to work everyday and the weekend is jeans and t-shirt, no makeup, etc. Now that I will be in school full time next semester…I was just thinking that I need to make sure to actually “get ready” on most days and not just do the jeans, t-shirt, no make-up look.

By the way, are you going to go back to teaching in the future or are you only doing the travel agent business?

My wardrobe has grown not that I’m no longer wearing uniforms to work. I was shocked to find out that I had my own “style”. I like to do things my own way and have been complimented more times than I can wrap my mind around! I love it!

Even so, as soon as I get home from work I go up to the bedroom and change into running clothes or plain old sweats. They are more comfy, and I don’t mind if the cat sheds on them…!

I actually need to go through my wardrobe. I’ve lost weight so a lot of my clothing is too large!

I will admit my wardrobe is a bit of a hodgepodge. I have a LOT of t-shirts and shorts but I also have a ton of dresses for auditions, presentations, sorority events, etc.

If I could have my way, I’d wear jeans everyday. I can’t wear them to work, though, so I’m forced into slacks and shirts. On the weekends, it’s all about comfort. Besides, t-shirts can be cute, right?!

I’m so guilty of this. Especially in Summer. All I wear are Tempo shorts and tee shirts! I’m also trying to make it a point to get dressed in REAL PEOPLE clothes when I’m NOT Running!
