FAQ

Hello! If you have a question you would like me to answer, just send it to runningwithsass@gmail.com and I would be happy to put it in this section! Or, if you are shy, you can comment on this post under a fake name :)

1.) What do you do for a living? You talk about being at home a lot.
Yes! I love working from home. I am a Disney travel agent! I started in May of 2010 and it really is a dream come true for me. Thinking ahead to the future, i want to be a stay at home mom, but still able to make some money. This works out perfectly for me, and for my personality. I can book Disneyworld, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, as well as other cruise likes like Carnival, Royal Caribbean, etc. Check out my Disney travel quote tab on my blog for more info! Most people don’t realize that using a travel agent is FREE to them, so why not have someone else do all the work for you?

2.) What kind of Garmin do you use?
I actually use an old school 301. It was cheaper than the 305, and it works just fine for everything I need it for. I have had it for two years and it’s still kicking!

3.) What Disney resorts have you stayed at?
I have stayed at the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Boardwalk, Animal Kindom Lodge, Wilderness Lodge,  Yacht Club, Port Orleans Riverside, Coronado Springs, All Star Sports, and the Fort Wilderness Campground. My favorite is the Grand Floridian. :) I have also sailed on all four Disney cruise ships.

4.) You keep talking about living with your parents. Why? I thought you were married?
My husband and I have had a rough year in 2010-2011. His father passed away after almost a year long battle with cancer in the summer of 2010. We had already beeing thinking and praying about our next step in life, and we didn’t have much other family in central Mississippi really, so we decided it was time to move. Bobby took a job on the Gulf Coast, and we decided to build a house. I decided to move in with my parents outside of New Orleans while we built the house. I lived there 4 months and we finally moved into our home in March of 2011.

5.) Tell me about your dogs, they are super cute!
My babies are Sassy and Bella. Sassy is a black toy poodle and she is ten. Bella is a cream/apricot toy poodle and she is four. They don’t get along very well but they tolerate each other. We call Sassy Eeyore because she always looks depressed and upset because the puppy is bothering her. We call Bella “stinky” (or stink, stinker, Bella stink, etc.) because she is so bad, and such a little stinker! Bella is very clingy and follows me wherever I go, while Sassy is content to sit on the couch all day and randomly bark at noises she hears. They are great watch dogs!

6.) How did you and Bobby meet? How long did you date and how long were you engaged?
Bobby and I met my sophomore year of college, the first weekend back at school. We were both palying in an intermural volleyball tournaent on opposite teams and we started talking. He invited me to come out and play ball with them in the afternoons, and he finally asked me out one day. :) We dated for one year and three months before Bobby had the nerve to propose. We then were engaged for 13 months before we got married. (yes it was a long engagement, but when you are having a New Orleans wedding you have to book things way in advance because big weddings are so popular!)

7.) How did you get started distance running?
In high school I was a sprinter and a 400 seemed like a long way. In January of 2009, I went to Disneyworld and watched some friends run the marathon. While standing on the side watching the runners and the spectators, I started to tear up. I was so inspired watching the runenrs at mile 23ish of their rac, determined to finish. At that moment, I decided if they can do it, I can do it. I went home and started training. The next year, I went back and ran the half marathon with my husband. Halfway to my goal! I ran two more halfs, and then started training for the full marathon in the summer. I went back January 2011 and accomplished my goal of running the full marathon! It took me two years but I came full circle. :)

8.) What kind of makeup do you wear?
I wear bare minerals on my face, and I use cover girl lash blast mascara. I recently bought a new concealer because I have dark circles under my eyes. It’s from Sephora and it’s called “erase paste” by Benefit cosmetics. It works really well and a little bit goes a long way. I also use Tarte cheek stain that I also get at Sephora.

9.) I noticed that you don’t blog about your food. What is your diet like?
I knew I was going to get this one! I don’t blog about my food for a reason. I have gotten SO much better, but I am definitely not the epitome of the healthy eater. I have a HUGE sweet tooth and I eat chocolate everyday. I also love bread and pasta, but have cut back, and now eat whole grain/wheat instead of white. I eat a lot of chicken, and try to limit my red meat to once a week or so. I also LOVE sweet tea but only drink it once a week on the weekend as a treat. I like simple recipes (check out my recipes tab!) I also love cheese!!!! I have broadened my horizons a lot in the past few years, but I still don’t eat seafood and cannot force myself to eat a salad!

10.) Have you ever struggled with food or your weight?
eh….I’m not really sure how to answer this question. In high school, I ate whatever I wanted. I just never thought about it. I played three sports, and I was skinny as a bean pole! When I went to college, I still ate what I wanted, but it started to take it’s toll because I wasn’t working out that much. I gained about ten pounds but it didn’t really bother me. I also have someone close to me that struggles with an eating disorder, and watching this person makes me NEVER want to go down that road. I think I have a healthy relationship with food. Sure I would love to tone up here and there, who doesn’t, but I am not actively TRYING to lose weight. I have trimmed up since I started running, but I don’t weigh myself often and just tend to go by how my clothes feel. I am 5’9″ so I will never be “tiny” and I am ok with that. I am curvy, and my husband likes it, so there. :)

11.) What kind of camera do you use?
I have a Nikon D5000 and I LOVE it. I am still so overwhelmed by it, but haven’t had time to learn all I want to know. Hopefully I can take a class soon to help me. My sweet husband got me a HUGE zoom lens for Christmas I have really had fun with, too!

13.) What brand of running clothes do you wear?
In case you haven’t noticed, I love running skirts from runningskirts.com!  I wear asics running socks when not wearing RS compression socks, and I wear Newtons and Mizzuno running shoes. I also wear moving comfort sports bras, and C9 champion gear from Target

I loved the Grand Floridian! I’ve stayed at the Polynesian as well but was embarrased at the Ohana restaurant. 😛

I’ve never raced in skirts. I’m sure they allow for much better movement.
